Earlier this month, Nollywood actress and comedian Helen Paul disclosed that she was born out of rape, narrating how her mum was told she wouldn’t amount to anything.
She shared the touching message in a post dedicating her Doctorate degree in Theatre Arts to her mum.
“I grew up hearing from family members; being called a “Bastard” and each time i asked you, you said (Olorun lon wo omo werey, Olorun ma wo e meaning God watches the child of a mad person, he’d watch over you),” she had shared.
She talks to BBC News Pidgin about growing up with that knowledge, surmounting hurdles against her, and becoming successful in her field.
She also reveals that a book is on the way.
